Rumors Circulate That Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Wale & More Join Stevie Wonder’s Boycott Of Florida ?

Artists have reportedly joined Stevie Wonder in boycotting Florida in support of changing the Stand Your Ground law.

The death of Trayvon Martin, and the not-guilty verdict for his killer, George Zimmerman, continues to divide people and spark controversy. Recently 100 rallies were held across the U.S., seeking justice for Trayvon. Today, it’s being reported that artists are continuing to protest, this time by boycotting Florida altogether.

Stevie Wonder was the first to come forth announcing last week during a concert that he would be boycotting Florida and any state with the Stand Your Ground law, until it’s been abolished. The law factored into Zimmerman’s case, and was cited by a juror in explaining their not guilty verdict. Now Huffington Post reports that a source close to Wonder has revealed that a bunch of other artists are joining Wonder’s boycott initiative, however, there is little confirmation from the artists themselves or their representatives. Although the news has been reported by many media outlets, it still remains possible that the list is inaccurate.

The list includes the likes of Kanye West, Trey Songz, Keyshia Cole, Will.i.am, Alicia Keys, Wale, and Young Jeezy, among others. However, there are conflicting reports– some say that Jay Z is also supporting the boycott, however, his “Legends Of The Summer” tour stop on August 16th in Florida with Justin Timberlake is apparently still going on as planned. Another, The Rolling Stones, are on the list, but a representative for the group has reportedly said they’ve never heard of the list or the boycott. The same has been said for Rihanna.

As well, it remains unclear if the artists listed are actually completely boycotting the state, or are just generally outraged at the outcome of the case. We’ll update you as we get confirmation either way, but for now, see the list of artists that’s been circulating the web below.

Chris Brown & Drake Win $16M Lawsuit Filed Against Them Over Nightclub Brawl ?

A $16 million lawsuit filed against Drake and Chris Brown has been tossed out.

One of the many lawsuits that were a result of Drake and Chris Brown’s infamous brawl at a nightclub in New York last summer has finally come to an end. Drake and Chris came out on top in the suit filed by Entertainment Enterprises, the company behind the Greenhouse nightclub in NYC.

A New York judge ruled that neither rapper owes a cent in regards to the $16 million lawsuit. Although the brawl took place at W.i.P. nightclub, which is across from Greenhouse, EE sued because they said their reputation took a massive hit because of their proximity to the fight, and apparently that cost them a lot of money.

Drake responded to the suit that it wasn’t his fault, because he can’t control how the media depicted the incident. A judge took Drizzy’s side. The judge said Drake and Chris Brown were not required to behave in any specific way at the club, especially since the brawl didn’t even take place on Greenhouse premises. Although it was unfortunate the brawl occurred, the judge said nightclub fights aren’t uncommon, and EE can’t go suing whenever one happens.

Future Sued Over Another Child Support Claim [Update: Future Takes Full Responsibility, But The Mother Wants More] ?

After settling a child support lawsuit only a few weeks ago, another woman has pegged Future as the father of her child and is demanding payments.

A few weeks ago, Future was hit with a lawsuit for unpaid child support by a woman who claimed he was the father of her child born in 2001. After a DNA test that proved Future was in fact the father of the child, he settled the lawsuit and agreed to make monthly support payments. Once all that was settled, it seemed like the ATL rapper could continue with working on his upcoming album Future Hendrix, and hanging out with new girlfriend Ciara, but now he has a very similar lawsuit on his hands once again.

A woman filed a lawsuit in Georgia earlier this month, claiming she gave birth to Future’s child on December 4th. She is demanding child support payments, and has requested that if Future disputes the claims, that he take another DNA test.

Future has yet to respond to the claims, but it looks like he could be paying two baby mamas at the same damn time.

[Future Claims Full Responsibility, But The Mother Wants More]

The woman mentioned above is Brittni Mealy, and a month after filing the lawsuit against Future, she dismissed it without any explanation. But on June 8th, the ATLien emcee filed official documents admitting that he impregnated her. Not only did he ask the court to legally recognize him as the father, he also requested joint custody and inquired about child support payments.

Mealy has since responded with documents of her own, claiming he left them without support for months, and that his efforts simply aren’t enough. She’s requesting back payments for the months of June and July, as well as future support, of course.

On top of this, Future is still in an ongoing battle with his other baby mother, Jessica Smith, who is looking to collect more for their 10-year-old son.

Mac Miller Talks Different Approach With “Watching Movies With The Sound Off” & Molly ?

Mac Miller talks about his transition from “Blue Slide Park” to “Watching Movies With The Sound Off” and his love of drugs.

With the release of Mac Miller’s sophomore album Watching Movies With The Sound Off, we’ve seen a more mature side of Mac which journalists and music critics have praised. However, Mac was prepared for the worst, expecting “everyone to talk shit” he said in a new interview with the Huffington Post.

The rapper speaks on his evolution to WMWTSO during the interview and making a decidedly different kind of music. “It [WMWTSO] was gold to me [but] I think [the public] has trouble taking me seriously, which I mean… it’s my fault,” Miller said. “But it’s cool because I really just kind of appreciated how everyone was able to listen with an open mind. They were able to just listen to the records and not be like, ‘Oh, I can’t… this sentence… fuck your sentence.'”

Mac said of his older stuff, “My ideology was, if I just make very happy music, very happy music, then people will forget about whatever their problems are. I will forget about my problems.” But for his recent album, he took a different approach, “I think that I realized that maybe it’s time to confront my own issues and write about them — write about my own shit and put it out there — which was difficult, but it was important.”

His issues, however, don’t really make for content that is radio-friendly– and Mac isn’t bothered, because he says he wasn’t looking for that. “I was thinking anti-single. I was just like, ‘I don’t want to make a single,’ because I’m not gonna get radio play anyway. I don’t have the money to do that shit, you know what I’m sayin? We’re independent. I mean, yeah, if I had the right record, I could do whatever, but I’m cool. I don’t need that right now,” the Rostrum Records rapper explained.

The focus then turned to another subject matter which Mac has grown more familiar with since Blue Slide Park: drugs. Although Mac says he’s cleaned up, he still admits he loves drugs, and goes on to discuss molly and the controversy surrounding Rick Ross’ line in “U.O.E.N.O.”

“I love drugs,” Mac said. “To this day, I still fuck with drugs. I did get clean, but I love drugs. I’m just saying, be smart about it. I think when I was in to the lean heavy, I think what it was is that it created this numbness which I liked. I was 19 years old and I was the CEO of a multi-million dollar corporation. I’ve like, got people with families depending on me. Like, fuck dude. The numbness thing was like I was going through a lot of relationship issues, going through a bunch of different shit so I just kind of wanted to just like, shut it all out.”

“I don’t know if you’ve ever taken molly but you’re not getting raped on molly,” Mac said of the trending drug. “It’s not a roofie. If you have sex on molly, it’s consensual. Like, they were calling molly this date-rape drug and shit — it’s not a date-rape drug. I don’t even like to have sex when I roll. If I’m rolling and I’m with a girl, I’m much more likely to have a good conversation. For real.”

Kendrick Lamar Talks Fame, Jay-Z & “K.Dot” With Bullet Magazine ?

In a recent article with Bullet Magazine, Kendrick Lamar spoke about his rising fame, Jay-Z, and the origins of his nickname “K. Dot”.

In the latest “Wild Issue” of Bullet Magazine, Kendrick Lamar chopped it up with Ben Barna about his new found fame, the success of Jay-Z, and the origins of his nickname “K. Dot”.

The 25-year old Compton rapper also spoke on some other topics in the full article spread, which can be read here. But for now, check out some of the highlighted points from his interview below:

On becoming comfortable with his newfound fame:
“Shit like that trips you out. Even just walking onto your tour bus and seeing a full-blown studio in there, you’re like, Damn, I’m really doing this shit.”

On commending the success of Jay-Z:
“How many tours has he been on? How many verses has he put down? How many interviews? How many radio shows? People forget that. They can’t fathom how a dude from the Marcy Projects is sitting next to Barack Obama, so they make up all types of crazy shit and forget the facts: This nigga dedicated every single day of his life to this, and what he has wasn’t just given to him. It’s no mistake he’s at where he’s at.”

On deciding to use his real name, professionally:
“I’ll always be K.Dot out in the hood and to my homies. But using my real name is symbolic of me showing people who I really am.”

Chief Keef Makes $13k A Month, Ordered To Pay $3k In Child Support To Baby Mama [Update: Chief Keef Not Paying] ?

Chief Keef has been ordered to pay $2,600 a month in child support to his baby mama.

Although the rumors that Chief Keef impregnated a middle-schooler are somewhat debunked (word is, the girl is actually now in college, and she’s only two months younger than the rapper), the lawsuit the girl filed for child support still went ahead, and resulted in her favor.

The 17-year old Chief Keef was sued for child support earlier this year. Although the baby mama may no longer be a middle schooler, she apparently gave birth in 2011, when Keef was only 15.

According to court documents, Chief Keef has been ordered to pay the mother of his child $2,600 a month in child support– that’s based off of the total $13,000 a month he’s currently making. Keef also has to fork over $500 in day care expenses, as well as $10,400 in missed child support payments.

A hearing has been set for next month to finalize these amounts. We’ll keep you posted on all of Keef’s baby mama drama.

[UPDATE: Chief Keef Reportedly Not Making His Child Support Payments]

Although Chief Keef is often seen with bundles of cash in his pockets, and it’s reported that he earns $13,000 a month, he hasn’t been paying his baby mama child support.

As we previously reported, the rapper was ordered to pay her $2,600 a month, and that was supposed to start in May. The mother has filed legal documents claiming that Keef has only forked over $1,900. She says that she can’t support herself without Keef’s payments, so he has to start paying as soon as possible.

A judge has ordered the Chicago native to appear in court in September, to explain why he hasn’t paid up. If he doesn’t show up in court, an arrest warrant could be issued.

2 Chainz Talks Dumbing Down Music, Running During Robbery, T.R.U. University Label ?

2 Chainz comments on his subject matter, “B.O.A.T.S. II,” running during the robbery and more.

2 Chainz’ winning streak hasn’t stopped yet, after a very successful debut album in 2012, the rapper is ready for another hit in 2013, with B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, dropping on September 10th. It’s not like the rapper needs the money at this point, after hopping on just about every song last year, Tity Boi recently confirmed that he charges $100,000 a verse now, so hard work really does pay off.

Thus far, we’ve only heard the single “Feds Watching” featuring Pharrell and in a new interview with the Village Voice, 2 Chainz is nowhere near ready to divulge the rest of the album’s features, although he does confirm that the LP is in the mixing stages. He does say there will be “14 more of those [tracks]” referring to “Feds Watching” so we could assume the album has fifteen cuts. The Atlanta native also speaks on the robbery in San Francisco, advising people to run when there are guns, and dumbing down his music and finally reveals he has some projects dropping on his own imprint, T.R.U. University, although he names no names.

Check out a few excerpts below.

What up 2 Chainz? Pardon the intrusion. You must be busy working on B.O.A.T.S. 2.
No that’s pretty much done. I’m just finishing up the mixing. I’m adding a few samples, taking away a few samples. I’m still arranging the album too and also getting the credits right to make that side of the business is taken care of.

What do you say to the critics who think your subject matter isn’t varied enough? I mean, I can tell when I speak to you you’re a smart dude. Do you dumb your shit down?
My answer to the critics is this, and I quote: Smart people can act dumb but dumb people can’t act smart. That goes to every critic that doesn’t know I never made a C in high school, just A’s and B’s. It just so happens I have an understanding about real life. Where I’m from no one wants Jesse Jackso–they want a nigga that tells it like it is. Strippers and dope dealers who ride foreign cars. I take [listeners] on a walk though that neighborhood, through that lifestyle. When I came in the game with “Duffle Bag Boyz,” I was already wearing Gucci. That’s how I came in the game. This album, of course, it’s some growth. I’m talking about prosperity more but I’m not going to stop talking real shit that we see on the news. So all those critics can miss me with that shit.

Robberies also come with fame and money sometimes too. You caught some heat for running from those gun men in that video, but any one from the hood knows there’s no arguing with a gun. You should quit the scene ASAP.
Let me tell you something. Anybody that tells you they wouldn’t run hasn’t been in situations like me. I’ve been a felon since I was 15. Most kids at that age might still be sleeping in the same bed with their siblings. I’m trying to grow to be a wiser person. If you heard shots in Manhattan, Pablo, what would you do?

Run.
Exactly. But you know I learned from the experience and like I said I’m striving to be a wiser person.

So what’s next for you?
T.R.U. University label is my focus. Have some projects coming out on that. I’m just looking to be competitive. I got that sports edge on these fools. I eat well, get my cardio in. I want it all! I’m amicable with people, but I want everybody up outta here. I want it all!

Eminem Turned Down A Leading Movie Role Because It Wasn’t Shot In Detroit ?

When it comes to acting, Em has certain requirements.

It seems Eminem turned down a leading role in the upcoming Hollywood science fiction film “Elysium”, due to the fact that his native city of Detroit wasn’t chosen as the film’s primary location. The lead role was instead given to Matt Damon, who was actually director Neil Blomkamp’s third choice. South African rapper Ninja of Die Antwoord (who was Blomkamp’s first choice) also turned down the role due to its location.

Marshall is in no rush to return to Hollywood, though, as he made clear in a recent interview with Rap Fix.

“There are some things in the [works], a couple of scripts,” Eminem explained. “I guess it’s more so of just waiting now to see how they come together. Obviously it’s gotta be something that I feel is dope enough to make me want to say, ‘OK, let me put the mic down for a second and go do this movie.’ There are some things that are in the works. I guess we’ll just see how they come together.”
